Day 1 Frankfurt
to Eisleben
At your arrival at Frankfurt airport you will be met by your private
TERRA LU motor coach and the tour escort. Transfer to Eisenach to
visit Wartburg Castle, which in many respects is important for German
history. Continue to Eisleben region for a well-deserved welcome
dinner. The hotel will be your home for the rest of the tour.
Day 2 Day
trip Eisleben - Mansfelder Land
After a good breakfast you'll discover the town of Eisleben on a
guided walking tour. Eisleben is the town where the church reformer
Martin Luther was born and died. Visiting the birth house museums
gives you a good understanding of people's life as miners 500 years
ago. In the afternoon your bus takes you on a scenic ride through
the Mansfelder land region. Enjoy German cake and coffee at the
Sangerhausen Rosarium, World's largest Rose-garden.
Day 3 Day
trip Naumburg - Weißenfels - Merseburg - Halle
Todays trip takes you to the huge cathedral of Naumburg, who's old
town is the name giver of the Naumburg renaissance. The impressive
church in the palace of Weißenfels is one of the best preserved
baroque churches in middle Europe. The Cathedral and the Castle
of Merseburg with their complex architecture and many towers are
set above the River Saale. The Cathedral rates among the most impressive
buildings of the Romantic Road in Saxony Anhalt. Halle is the home
town of Georg Friedrich Händel, the great composer. A visit
a the Händel House gives us a good understanding of Händel's
life and shows a collection of antique musical instruments. BTW:
Halle also has the continent's only full-time Beatles Museum!
Day 4 Day
trip Halberstadt - Quedlinburg - Wernigerode
The cathedrals of Halberstadt and Quedlinburg harbour fabulous treasures
and two of the three most important church treasuries in Germany.
Wernigerode has a picturesque small old town with many nice cafés.
Day 5 Day
trip Berlin
Let's leave the classic history for a daytrip into Berlin, German's
vibrant capital. We'll see remnants of Berlin Wall, the Brandenburg
Gate, the Holocaust Memorial, and find time for some downtown shopping.
Day 6 Farewell
at the Rhine
The morning gives you some time to sleep in and get your bags packed,
before the bus hits the road for the way back to Frankfurt. Your
last night will be in Rüdesheim at the Rhine for a joyous farewell
dinner.
Day 7 Homebound
flight
The TERRA LU bus takes you back to the airport for your homebound
flight after a week in Germany full of cultural discoveries.
